My 23rd birthday was on Monday, and I’m officially deeming it my first grown-up birthday. I mean, come on. I spent the majority of that day at work. That doesn’t exactly open the door for tons of partying and excitement… not that I would want that anyways. Socializing? Yuck!
But despite my monday-birthday, I still had a great time turning 23.
On Thursday, Josh took me out to a quirky local restaurant called Odd Fellows. They have a fairly limited menu but everything they serve is supposed to be crazy good. Josh finally tried out Chicken and Waffles and I indulged with their crazy amazing fried chicken & gravy plus flaky, powdered-sugar drenched beignets. Plus Odd Fellows, is a cute little place with fun art collections and other, dare I say, odd decor. I enjoyed hanging out there.
Then, early Saturday morning, I dragged my butt out of bed and made way for Austin to meetup with some other Texas Bloggers! Heather and Tarah from Real Cheap Housewives of Texas threw together this fun day to get us all ready for the Haven Conference in August!
We ate good food, enjoyed the view, got awesome goody bags, and talked a lot about blogging and vodka. Then we all headed out to Burnett Street in Austin for some thrift shopping. (I actually scored some pretty neat finds that I can’t wait to share!) It was so amazing hanging out with these ladies and now, I’m even more excited for Haven!
I also stopped by to “keep it weird” with my lovely sister and then headed back to Dallas bright and early on Sunday. It was a whirlwind trip but it was totally worth it.
As for my actual day of birth? Well, it was pretty tame with some work cake and dinner with Josh at our favorite Mexican joint but I just had fun. Which I guess is all you really want to celebrate being alive right? So, here’s to the next year.
