Exciting news!!! I have officially crossed something off of my Colorful Life List! Last weekend, I took a sewing class! Now that I’m past college and homework and I have a steady job, it’s time to start branching out and cultivating some of the skills I’ve been wishing for. At this point in time, it would be very easy for me to become complacent but I want to make sure I’m always moving forward and growing.
It was great! The class was small so I got lots of attention from the instructor (which is super important when you’ve got a bunch of newbies with that dangerous machinery) and the vibe was very low pressure. In about 2.5 hours, I had a fancy-schmany little cross-body bag that I made 100% on my own. That feeling was really amazing.
Now, I know that you don’t retain skills you never use, so I’ve been looking into purchasing a little beginner’s sewing machine to practice with. Maybe make some pillow cases or napkins or something easy like that! I’ve actually read pretty good things about this machine from IKEA (if you’re staying firmly in the ‘basic’ genre).
What skills do you wish you had? How can you start making that happen? And, do you have a life list? Link below, because I’d love to read them!
