Okay, this is a warning. Things are about to escalate to an unusually high level of mushiness. So be prepared!
Today is our three year wedding anniversary. Three years ago today, we were tying the knot at a tiny historical church in south Texas. How three years have passed already, I have no idea but I am so thankful to have this person on my side.
The amazing thing is in four days (on the 18th), we’ll be celebrating 7 years together. Picture us young band nerds in high school, awkwardly holding hands and driving around in my 1998 Grand Am. We were so stupidly in love. (Please put on sunglasses now to avoid “Braces Glare”) Then we graduated and moved away to college. Together. Both with the intention of studying music at the University of North Texas. My path changed pretty drastically once we arrived, but we kept on going. We moved in together in 2009. Into the tiniest, cheapest apartment we could find, but just the fact that we were actually living in the same place made it feel fun and exciting. We actually got married while still in college. Some might call that a dumb decision, but we figured we’d just go ahead and do it anyways. And our wedding was my inspiration to start blogging in the first place. What’s now Two Live Colorfully started in December 2009 as “Are We Wed Yet?” I blogged all about our diy wedding and everything leading up to it. Once the nuptials were over my interests changed and home/diy blogging became my thing, so we made the switch, but it’s still cool to remember why this whole thing started in the first place. (If you’re interested in reading what the blog was like in the AWWY days, we keep those posts in their own special category here.)
And, now we’re here. College graduates and mostly successful adults, living in a giant city with full time jobs and a fairly swanky apartment. Considering the comparison of our first to our current apartment, we’ve come a long long way.
Looking back at all of these pictures and all of these life stages I’ve made it through and seeing the same handsome guy by my side gives me this jolt of happiness. How did I ever get so lucky to find “my person” in high school? I thought that was too cliche to actually happen, but it did. And he literally changed my life. I know for sure that I would not be where I am today with out him.
Regularly scheduled non-mushy programming will resume on Friday!
