yum | homemade traditional wassail

Happy Monday friends! Welcome to the week before Christmas! One of the things I love most in the whole world is hanging out at home with a warm beverage when the temperature starts to drop. And without a doubt, my preferred toasty drink in December is homemade traditional wassail!homemade traditional wassail recipeIt’s basically Christmas in a cup! The first time I ever tried this was Christmas a few years ago at my husband’s house. My sister-in-law Jennifer brewed this up and I was immediately hooked.

homemade traditional wassail recipeAt a first glace of the ingredients you might not instantly think “holidays”, but with everything mulled together. Oh man! It’s crazy amazing.

Our crock pot is teeny-tiny so we made ours over the stove. Either option would work perfect for your holiday get together.homemade traditional wassail recipeHomemade Traditional Wassail:

  • 2 quarts apple cider
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 1 1/2 cups pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon whole cloves
  • 2-3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 orange
  1. Combine apple cider, orange juice, pineapple juice, lemon juice, &sugar into a large pot/crock pot.
  2. Stick cloves into the skin of your whole orange and place in pot.
  3. Add cinnamon sticks and let simmer on low-medium heat until heated through.
  4. Enjoy throughout the day.

If you’re making it just for you (no judgement, that’s what we did!), you can pour any remaining wassail into a pitcher and store in the refrigerator. Just pour and heat whenever you desire a cup of Christmas cheer!
